Alabama Medicaid Overview
If you can't afford health insurance, Alabama's Medicaid programs, SOBRA and MLIF, provide health coverage for low-income individuals and families. SOBRA is a health coverage program that helps pay medical bills. Medicaid for Low-Income Families (MLIF) is a health care program for families with very low incomes who have children under the age of 19 living in their homes.
Alabama Medicaid Eligibility Requirements - Non Income
SOBRA and MLIF: Must be a U.S. citizen or legal alien and an Alabama resident.
SOBRA: Must be a child under 19 or a pregnant woman. Cannot be eligible for ALL Kids.
MLIF: Must be related to child under age of 19 (i.e. parent or close relative). Non-related caretakers do not qualify for MLIF.

Alabama Medicaid Benefits
MLIF: Among some of the services: ambulatory surgical center, birth center services, child health check-ups, chiropractic care, durable medical equipment and supplies, federally-qualified health centers, home health, hospital inpatient/outpatient care, laboratory, licensed midwife, physician, podiatry, prescriptions, rural health. SOBRA: Pregnant women ONLY to get pregnancy related services covered.
